Recently I had the opportunity to meet my college roommates for an afternoon mini-reunion at our alma mater. Before heading out the door, I made a last minute grab for a box of photos in my den labeled “college photos.” I had not looked in this box for nearly 20 years! At lunch we caught up on all the news of our lives, and soon we started to reminisce. I pulled out the box of photos and they couldn’t believe I had kept them all this time. “Are you kidding, of course I kept them” I said, “These are priceless!!”

I am sharing this because I realize the importance preserving pictures over the course of time. I regularly hear the comment “I don’t know why I bother making a scrapbook for my child. He probably won’t even look at it.” Just know that years from now it will become priceless!

Computers, social media sites, SD cards, discs, flash drives will come and go. All of these devices, just like cassette tapes, slide projectors, faxing, or flip-phones may be a distance memory 20-30 years from now.

Printed pictures will be around for generations if preserved correctly.  So I encourage you to print the best of all those photos currently on your smart phone, digital camera, or computer. Then organize them, and store them safely. These are the treasures, the memory joggers, and the story starters that should be preserved.

When you have the time, put them in a scrapbook. When you get them in a scrapbook, don’t just stack it on a shelf. Display the album on the coffee table so your family and friends can enjoy the memories, and relive the special, priceless memories.

Legacy Paper Arts had a busy summer! Here’s a list of the
Top 10 things we did this summer

1.We completed 6 full custom scrapbooks for customers who had a story to tell, rich heritages to pass on, and events to document. We love helping people complete albums when they do not have the time or ability to make their own.

2.We helped several brides make wedding decorations, banners, table numbers, place cards, and receiving boxes. We helped make invitations for rehearsal dinners and showers. We ordered specialty paper to help DIY brides print their own programs.

3.We offered 21 classes for kids! We had over 120 kids participate and they had so much fun! They sharpened their paper crafting skills, learned new techniques, got to try lots of new tools, and each child went home with projects they were proud of.

4.We held 9 Graphic 45 card club classes to for over 25 members.

5.We had fun with paints, inks, decoupage, and more as we created with mixed media techniques. The mixed media trend is hot, and we got a bit messy to create project that were off the page.

6.We offered make-n-takes to demonstrate new items.

7.We attended trade shows to strengthen the shopping and learning experience that we offer at Legacy. We found new sources for products you have been requesting: more custom products, adult coloring books, markers, inks, new paper collections, and embellishments to help you complete your projects, and grow creatively.

8.We created custom die-cuts for numerous customers for a variety of projects.

9.We embossed scrapbook albums with our new machine

10.Our adult classes gave several people wonderful opportunities to learn new techniques, perfect skills, and to simply have a great time getting to know other people with similar interests

The best part of our summer was meeting new customer from near and far, and seeing friendships form over our craft table. We truly enjoy meeting, greeting, and working with each one of you who passed though our doors and made our summer a whole lot brighter!
